2019-2020 Student Composition Competition
Congratulations to Justin Uyehara, winning with his composition, Ehu
The UH Music Department and the UH Bands announce the 2019-2020 Student Composition Competition. The Competition is open to all UH current students enrolled in composition study. Winners will have their work performed with the UH Wind Ensemble on their Aloha Concert, Sunday, April 26, 2020.
Submission Deadline: Friday, January 17, 2020
Composition Performance: Sunday, April 26, 2020
General Qualifications
- Entrants must be currently enrolled UH students in semester of submission/performance
- Entrants must currently be enrolled in composition lessons with a UH faculty member
Composition Competition
- Work should be no longer than 6’ in length, suitable for a concert opener
- Work should be scored for full wind ensemble instrumentation (see below)
- Submission should include a full score (checked for errata) and audio realization (e.g., MIDI) emailed to jboeckma@hawaii.edu
- Winners will also receive a recording of the performance
- The jury holds the right to not award winners

- The Composition Competition Winner will have their piece performed by the UH Wind Ensemble on the UH Bands Aloha Concert, Sunday April 26, 2020
